ABOUT
Carrie Able Projects is the curatorial and residency arm of Carrie Able Studio, an artist-led space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York.
Founded in 2016 by multidisciplinary artist Carrie Able, the space began as Carrie Able Gallery and has evolved into a platform for exhibitions, residencies, performances, and experimental projects that foster both local and global community. Carrie Able Projects presents Able’s own work alongside some of the most exciting emerging and established visual artists, musicians, and new-media practitioners.
Programming pivots between fine art exhibitions, educational resources, live performances, and technology-driven initiatives, continually reinforcing a commitment to accessibility and inclusion. The space is especially committed to showcasing emerging artists from across the world through frequent open calls. Selections are made in direct response to how the work aligns with the themes of each project—CVs and biographical details are not considered in the selection process.
In addition to exhibitions, Carrie Able Projects runs an Artist-in-Residence program, temporarily transforming the space into a studio and workshop. The residency encourages emerging artists to see themselves as entrepreneurs in their disciplines, advocating for their own practices and distinct voices. Each residency culminates in an exhibition at the Brooklyn space, often providing artists with their first opportunity to show work in New York City. Past residents have gone on to exhibit internationally and attend respected graduate programs, supported by mentorship from Able.
Artist-led and mission-based, Carrie Able Projects remains deeply connected to its neighborhood while engaging an expansive international network online. The studio and projects consistently pioneer new technologies, platforms, and tools for viewing and producing art. The space has been described as one of “New York’s go-to places for creatives, poets, visual artists, and musicians to freely express themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination.”
